One of the most frequently asked questions our Technical team get asked is:
How do I go about PAT Testing a phone charger?
Well, we are more than happy to help. PAT Testing a phone charger makes perfect sense as with any other portable electrical appliance, they can become damaged and faulty; which can result in damage, injury or worse!
So first things first; carry out a full visual inspection. This means all the usual visual checks, but give it a shake as well, just to make sure there is nothing rattling around inside. (Phone chargers should not rattle!)
Providing the PAT Tester has passed the visual inspection, you can proceed to the PAT Testing the phone charger.
As with any PAT Test you need to know the Class of the appliance. You should have noticed a square within a square symbol on the charger (usually printed between the pins) This means it is a Class II appliance.
To complete PAT testing a phone charger insert the charger into the front of the PB500 and press Class II. The PB500 will tell you if the appliance has passed or failed.
